Yubo setup for parents

Managing Location Sharing

Yubo encourages location-based interactions, but location sharing can be turned off for privacy.

1. Open location settings

a. Go to your profile → Tap the gear icon (top-right) → Tap Safety and privacy → Tap Location

2. Turn off location sharing

a. Toggle Use my location to Off (yellow means it’s active)

b. Optional: Tap Hide my city to increase privacy further

Customising Swipe Settings

Control how others see your child’s profile and tailor who appears in their swipe feed.

1. Access swipe settings

a. Go to your profile → Tap the gear icon (top-right) → Tap Swipe Settings

2. Adjust visibility and preferences

a. Toggle Don’t show my profile to On (yellow)

b. Tap Gender, Age, or Location to customise who they interact with

Reporting Users

Report inappropriate content or rule violations directly from a user’s profile.

1. Tap the shield icon with an exclamation mark (top-right of the user’s image)

2. Tap Report → Select a reason → Add any extra info → Tap Report

Blocking Users

Block users to prevent unwanted contact or content.

1. Tap the shield icon (top-right of the user’s image) → Tap Block

2. Add a reason if needed → Tap Block

3. For serious concerns, select Report and block

Verifying Age

Yubo’s age verification helps ensure users are in the correct age group for their safety.

1. Begin the verification process

a. Upload a valid ID showing your child’s photo and date of birth (e.g. school ID)

b. Submit a verification video

c. Record a short video in-app following prompts (face in frame, speak 3 words clearly)

d. Provide additional images

e. Upload recent photos showing their face

2. Await approval

3. Verification results are usually available within 24 hours

Muting Words

Block triggering or unwanted content in chats by adding custom words to the mute list.

Add muted words

1. Go to Settings → Tap Safety and privacy → Tap Muted words

2. Customise word filters

3. Add the words to block → Choose whether to block messages from everyone or everyone except friends

4. Tap the tick icon (bottom-right) to save

Filtering Inappropriate Messages

Yubo’s message filter helps block offensive or inappropriate chat content.

Enable message filtering

1. Go to Settings → Tap Safety and privacy → Tap Safety

2. Turn the filter on

3. Ensure Message filter toggle is yellow (On)

Managing Notifications

Limit distractions and reduce screen time by turning off push alerts.

Access notification settings

1. Go to Settings from your profile → Tap Push notifications

Disable notifications

2. Tap each toggle to turn off alerts (grey means Off)

Deleting a Yubo Account

Remove an unused account to protect your child’s data and prevent further use.

1. Begin account deletion

a. Go to Settings → Scroll to the bottom → Tap Delete account

2. Confirm deletion

a. Type DELETE when prompted → Tap DELETE again to finalise

Note: Deleted accounts cannot be recovered. Past bans and age verification history will carry over to any new accounts.
