Spotify setup for parents

Disabling Explicit Content

To block explicit songs/podcasts on a child’s linked account:

  1. Go to your Spotify homepage → Click your profile picture (top right).
  2. Select Account → Manage members.
  3. Choose the family member’s account to edit.
  4. Toggle Play explicit content to Disabled.

Setting Up Spotify Kids

Requires: Spotify Family Plan + Spotify Kids app.

  1. Open Spotify Kids app
  2. Sign in with your account
  3. Check parental consent box → Continue.
  4. Set a 4-digit PIN (required for future changes).
  5. Select content level: 0–6 or 5–12 years.

To adjust settings later:

  • Tap the profile picture (top left) → Gear icon (top right).
  • Enter your PIN → Select the child’s profile → Edit account.

Setting Content Level

  • From Edit account, click Audio for [current age].
  • Select the preferred age range → Continue.

Sharing Playlists

  1. On the Edit account page, select Shared playlists.
  2. Pick a playlist → Click Share.       

Your child will now be able to listen to your playlist from their Spotify Kids account.

Viewing Listening History

  1. From Edit account, select Listening history.
  2. Review recently played content.

Your child will now be able to listen to your playlist from their Spotify Kids account

Blocking Content

  1. From Edit account, choose Blocked content.
  2. Click View listening history → Tap the block icon next to items.
  3. Confirm with Block in the pop-up.
