Creating a Kid’s Profile
Use the web browser for easiest setup (While you can make changes in the mobile app, the web version is more straightforward).
Step 1 - Go to Amazon Prime Video in your browser and log in
Step 2 - Click your profile icon in the top right corner and select "+ Add new"
Step 3 - Customize the profile by entering your child’s name and let your child pick their favourite avatar
Step 4 - Toggle on the "Kid's profile?" option to activate child-safe settings and click "Save changes" to complete setup
Managing Content Restrictions
By default, every kid’s profile is set to only show U(Universal – Suitable for all) content in the UK. As your child grows older, you can choose to adjust these settings to allow access to more age-appropriate content.
Rating Meanings and Examples:
- U– Universal: Suitable for all ages. Films like The LEGO Movie (2014) and Hotel Transylvania (2012) are rated U.
- PG– Parental Guidance: Some scenes unsuitable for young children. Films like A Minecraft Movie (2024) and Peter Rabbit (2018) are rated PG.
- 12– Not suitable for under-12s. Films like Thunderbolts* (2024) and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2001) is rated 12.
- 15– Not suitable for under-15s. TV series like The Handmaid’s Tale (2017-25) and films like The Monkey (2024) are rated 15.
- 18– Only suitable for adults. TV series like The Boys (2019-) and films like Hannibal (2001) are rated 18
Managing Age Ratings
Step 1 - Access the profile settings
- Open Amazon Prime Video in your web browser and select your child's profile.
- Click the profile icon in the top-right corner, then choose Account & Settings.
- Note: If you're in the wrong profile, click the profile icon again to switch to the correct one.
Step 2 - Enter your password
- You may need to re-enter your Prime Video password for security.
- Once verified, click Permissions in the top menu under Account & Settings.
Step 3 - Scroll down to Viewing restrictions and select the appropriate age rating for your child.
- If they attempt to watch something with a higher rating, a PIN will be required—ensure you have one set up.
Step 4 - Under Apply viewing restrictions to, select All supported devices.
(This will ensure the changes you’ve made will show on all devices your child uses Amazon Prime Video on.)
Turning Off Purchasing
To prevent unauthorized rentals or purchases:
Access permissions settings
- From any profile, go to Account & Settings and select Permissions
Activate purchase controls
- Under Purchase restrictions, toggle the setting to On
- This will require your account PIN for all future purchases
