Every Child Online is a UK charity tackling the digital divide head-on. We believe that access to technology should be a right, not a privilege, and that every child deserves the chance to learn, connect, and create in our digital world.
Since 2021, we’ve provided over 50,000 refurbished computers, laptops, tablets, and phones to children and young adults who would otherwise be left behind. Each one has opened a door to education, friendship, opportunity, and belonging, while saving more than 446 tonnes of e-waste from landfill.
But our work goes far beyond distributing devices. We are building a safer, smarter, more connected future, one powered by digital inclusion and protected by digital awareness.
Today, millions of people across the UK rely on digital access for education, communication, healthcare, employment, and everyday life. Yet for many children and young people, access to technology is still out of reach. Research from digital Inclusion organisations show that thousands of families across the UK either lack suitable devices at home or rely on a single shared device between multiple children. For those families, homework becomes difficult, online learning is limited, and opportunities that many take for granted begin to disappear before they have even had the chance to develop.
Digital exclusion affects far more than education. It can increase isolation, damage confidence, restrict access to support services, and limit future employment opportunities. Children without reliable internet access or suitable technology often fall behind socially and academically, creating a gap that becomes harder to close over time.
At the same time, the online world presents growing risks for children who are connected without the knowledge or support to stay safe. Reports of online grooming offences have risen significantly in recent years, while cyberbullying, sextortion, online scams, harmful content, and social media pressures continue to affect young people across the country. Many children now experience the internet as both an essential part of life and a place filled with risks they are not fully prepared to navigate alone.
Our mission is simple but vital: to ensure every child can access the digital world safely, confidently, and with equal opportunity. We work to provide technology to those who need it most, while also delivering education, guidance, and online safety awareness that helps children, parents, carers, and communities stay informed and protected in an increasingly digital society.
We believe technology should do more than simply connect children to the internet. It should open doors, inspire creativity, and help young people discover what they are capable of achieving.
Access to digital tools gives children the opportunity to explore new interests, develop practical skills, and build confidence in ways that were once out of reach. Through access to computers, devices, training, and creative opportunities, many of the young people we support begin discovering talents in areas such as coding, digital design, music production, animation, cyber security, content creation, and engineering.
For some, it is the first time they have been able to complete schoolwork properly. For others, it becomes the starting point for a future career or passion they never imagined possible.
As industries continue to evolve, digital and creative skills are becoming essential for future employment and economic growth. Yet too many talented young people remain locked out simply because they lack access to the right technology or support at the right time.
By removing those barriers, we help unlock potential that might otherwise go unseen. We are not only supporting individual children, we are helping to build stronger communities, develop future talent, and create opportunities for the next generation to participate, contribute, and succeed in a digital world.
Whether you’re an individual, a school, or a global corporation, there’s a way for you to help build a safer, smarter, more connected Britain.
