The Song School in Southend-on-sea, is delighted to announce it has partnered with digital charity Every Child Online, supporting their shared vision of improving access to music technology for children and young people.
Every Child Online will provide vital technology infrastructure to support the introduction of Music Production into The Song School’s weekly timetable. Their primary goal is to bridge the digital divide by providing digital resources to children who may not have access. With The Song School being based in one of the UKs 10% most deprived wards and backed by their mission of levelling access to music education via a fee system that enables students from low-income families to join the school’s community either free of charge or subsidised; the two organisations are coming together to provide opportunities to some of the most disadvantaged young people in the area.
Of the initiative, Founder and Director of The Song School, Louisa Strachan says: “Music Production is another example of how music education is the most expensive extracurricular activity for young people – with a typical set up costing around £1,200 per person. The new partnership with Every Child Online works towards helping to give all young people equal opportunities to enhance skills that can be taken into adulthood”
Mike Tabard, CEO at Every Child Online, added: “We are thrilled to partner with The Song School in this important initiative. At Every Child Online, we believe that access to technology should never be a barrier to a child’s potential. By providing iMacs and MacBooks to The Song School, we aim to inspire and empower these talented young individuals, giving them the tools they need to explore and excel in music production. Together, we are opening doors to new opportunities and helping to nurture the next generation of creative minds.”
